Women who have never considered each other as romantic partners suddenly find themselves attracted to one another, or who have said "I don't see you as a girl" only to have their male friends confess their feelings to them, are probably quite common.
1. Loneliness: When emotionally exhausted.
One male interviewee said, "After breaking up with my girlfriend, at the moment when I felt I wasn't suited for dating, she was there quietly listening to me pour my heart out. Suddenly, I felt her gentleness made my heart flutter, and sometimes I wondered if being with her would last longer?"
Another male interviewee frankly admitted, "To be honest, although I've dated quite a few girls, I always felt very tired. Back then, I felt happy when I was drinking with female friends I was close to. Suddenly, I would feel like she was my girlfriend."
In other words, when a man is disappointed in love or exhausted by emotional entanglements, he may develop feelings for a close, gentle female friend.
2. Contrast: When you sense a woman's vulnerability
The interviewee said, "Seeing her, who is always so energetic, looking so heartbroken and in pain after breaking up with her boyfriend, makes me want to protect her." Another person said, "When I see my strong-willed, even a little scary, female colleague looking dejected because of a work mistake, I really want to help her."
The essential condition for falling in love lies in "contrast." A woman who is usually lively and active suddenly becomes weak, or a hardworking career woman reveals her vulnerability, which will trigger a man's instinct to protect her.
3. Unexpected event: The day after kissing while drunk.
"Because of a company party, I ended up kissing her on the way home. I felt really awkward when I got home. But when I saw her the next day and she seemed perfectly normal, I felt much more at ease. After that, I realized she was someone I couldn't ignore," said one of the interviewees.
The man felt that the woman should have been disgusted and uncomfortable after the kiss, but her nonchalant attitude reassured him somewhat. This observation might also apply to men who want to pursue someone after a one-night stand.
4. Surprise: Being told that the other person used to like you.
One man interviewed said, "When she said she used to like me—it might sound naive, but my heart was really racing."
When someone expresses their love to you, no one would feel unhappy, right? After being confessed to, you often find that you also have a very special feeling for her.
A man will definitely have a very different feeling when a female friend he's always considered a buddy confesses her feelings to him. Even if he still likes her now, he might try starting with something like "Back in the day..." which might be more effective.
