Applying makeup and jewelry are common steps for many modern women before leaving the house. However, researchers at the University of Paris have recently discovered that men are more attracted to natural, simple makeup than heavy makeup.
Researchers selected female volunteers aged 18-26 and took their portraits. Then, 169 male volunteers rated the attractiveness of the people in the photos. Simultaneously, researchers used computer models to simulate how the human visual cortex processes information, attempting to uncover the secrets of attractiveness.
The study found that men prefer women with "simple" facial features. The less makeup and jewelry a woman wears, the more attractive she is to men. Researchers analyzed that this is because the brain processes "simple," unadorned faces more easily, similar to how people are more likely to remember simple emojis and logos. However, this doesn't mean women can completely neglect their appearance; rather, they should keep their facial features simple and remove unnecessary accessories.
