The Daily Mail recently reported a case of extreme joy turning into tragedy—
A 44-year-old British woman suffered a stroke during sex.
The story begins, of course, with something unspeakable between adults; however, not long after, something dramatic happens...
Just as her partner was trying his best to please her, the female protagonist suddenly stiffened and lost consciousness...
Upon seeing this, the partner panicked and immediately called an ambulance.
By the time the ambulance arrived at the hospital, the female protagonist had regained consciousness and reported feeling nauseous but had not vomited...
The doctor who treated the patient was also panicked. What was going on?
Some people thought it was an epileptic seizure, but the final CT scan showed it was a subarachnoid hemorrhage, albeit a small one.
Prior to this, the woman had no physical ailments; she simply smoked.
Now the doctors were really excited. After discussing the case based on the patient's history, they concluded that smoking was not the direct cause of the brain hemorrhage; sexual activity was!
The possible reason is that blood pressure spikes rapidly during orgasm, causing blood vessels to rupture!
West Middlesex University Hospital, which received the case, also took it seriously, and two doctors wrote a report on it, which was published in BMJ Case Report...
The woman was eventually discharged from the hospital after two weeks of treatment.
In fact, the relationship between sexual activity and cerebral hemorrhage was discussed as early as 1969—the literature indicates that during orgasm, both sexes reach peak heart rate and blood pressure...
Some scholars, without much preamble, have conducted a straightforward study on the impact of sexual activity on aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. Their articles show that, according to multiple case series reports, 3.8%-14.5% of cases of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage are caused by sexual activity…
However, I think these kinds of cases are rare, so there's no need to be too nervous.
After all, climaxes aren't so easy to achieve!
