If you saw a couple in their fifties or sixties hugging and cuddling on the street, how would you feel?
If you happen to see an elderly person buying safety products at a supermarket, how would you react?
surprise?
incredible?
Is the other person definitely a pervert?
Many people believe that the elderly do not deserve to have a sex life, except for old scoundrels.
But love has no age limit. Whether you are a vibrant young person or an elderly person, you have the right to love and enjoy love.

I. How much do you know about the benefits of sex life for the elderly?
Appropriate sexual activity has many benefits for the health of older adults.
First, relieve psychological stress.
Life inevitably brings various pressures from many sources. If these pressures cannot be properly relieved and released, they may lead to mental illnesses such as depression in the elderly.
When older adults engage in sexual activity, they release dopamine, which generates feelings of pleasure and satisfaction, thereby enhancing their self-esteem and confidence, increasing positive energy, relieving psychological stress, and preventing mental illness.
Second, it stimulates the increase of testosterone.
Testosterone is a type of male hormone, accounting for about 95% of male hormone secretion, and is beneficial for maintaining normal male function. Appropriate sexual activity can stimulate testosterone production, enhance male function, and also help increase bone density , thereby preventing osteoporosis and other orthopedic diseases.

Conversely, low testosterone levels can lead to a significant decline in function in older adults.
Third, alleviate symptoms of age-related diseases.
The physical functions and immune systems of the elderly are far inferior to those of younger people, making them susceptible to many diseases, such as neurasthenia, back pain, insomnia, and indigestion. These diseases are difficult to cure and can cause them persistent troubles in daily life. However, a normal sex life can provide the elderly with relatively sufficient exercise, thus alleviating the symptoms of these physical ailments from a physical perspective.
Fourth, delay aging
Older adults are prone to osteoporosis, hunchback, and even fractures. As mentioned earlier, appropriate sexual activity helps maintain normal testosterone levels, thus preventing various orthopedic diseases.

At the same time, marital life can also bring positive emotions. As the saying goes, a smile makes you ten years younger, and the generation of positive emotions is also conducive to slowing down the aging process.
II. What constitutes appropriate sexual activity for the elderly?
A proper lifestyle has many benefits for the health of older adults and deserves attention, but what exactly constitutes a proper lifestyle?
Generally speaking, seniors aged 65 and above can have their treatment once a week or more, seniors aged 75 and above are advised to have it once or twice every two weeks, and seniors aged 80 and above can have it once every two months.

However, the frequency of sexual activity for older adults should actually be adjusted based on their own physical condition and habits, taking into account individual differences. If they experience pleasure and no discomfort during sexual activity, and feel energetic and not overly tired afterward, then the current frequency of sexual activity is appropriate; otherwise, it may indicate excessive sexual activity.
Third, pay attention to safety. Have you done so?
There are many aspects that older adults need to pay attention to in their daily lives.
1. Safety Measures
Older adults may believe they and their partners are no longer capable of having children and therefore are not worried about unintended pregnancy, so they don't take any precautions. However, in reality, safe sex practices not only prevent pregnancy but also protect against various diseases. Neglecting safe sex practices can lead to sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV/AIDS, and other diseases for both the individual and their partner, negatively impacting their quality of life in their later years.
2. Move slowly.
Compared to younger people, older people experience a decline in bone density and physical fitness, so they should not rush things , otherwise they may not only fail to enjoy the happiness they deserve, but also negatively impact their health.

3. Let nature take its course, and pay attention to medication.
As people age, their abilities inevitably decline. Some "health products" on the market claim to restore their vitality and former vigor. Whether these products are effective is debatable, but they can burden the aging heart of the elderly. Long-term use can overwhelm the heart and have negative effects on health.
Therefore, older adults should avoid taking medication blindly and should not adopt an overly demanding attitude; letting nature take its course is the best approach.
Even as time passes and people grow older, the rights of the elderly should not be taken away. We should set aside prejudices and not look at those elderly people who bravely pursue their dreams with strange eyes; this is more conducive to the development of society.
