"Nine out of ten women suffer from cold uterus," a common problem faced by many women. If not addressed early, it will only worsen and may even lead to infertility. So what are the main symptoms of cold uterus? And how should it be managed during this hot summer? Let's find out together.
◆Main symptoms of uterine cold
1. Weight gain
Women with cold uterus are often prone to weight gain and may experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, insomnia, scanty menstruation, and anovulation. When the uterus lacks sufficient heat, fat acts as a "protector" to maintain its physiological functions. The colder the uterus, the more fat the body needs to store to provide enough energy, thus leading to weight gain.
2. Menstrual abnormalities
Irregular menstrual cycles, sometimes early and sometimes late; premenstrual symptoms include lower abdominal distension, increased vaginal discharge, lower back pain, breast tenderness, and in some cases, nausea and vomiting; and in rare cases, menstrual cramps that are unbearable.
3. Sensitive to cold
A common symptom of uterine coldness is cold hands and feet, or feeling cold all over the body, and also a thin, watery discharge.
4. Weak constitution
Symptoms often include poor mental state, lower back pain and weak legs, frequent urination, scanty menstruation, pale tongue with white coating, and deep pulse.
◆How to treat uterine coldness in summer?
1. Menstrual care
Boil brown sugar and mugwort leaves in water and drink it to warm the uterus, dispel cold, and remove blood stasis. Drink brown sugar water every day for three days before menstruation to increase flow and help menstruation be expelled more completely, as well as to invigorate blood circulation and warm the uterus.
2. Tea-based health regimen
Red ginger tea: Take 50 grams of brown sugar and 4 slices of peeled ginger, simmer over low heat for four to five minutes. Drink this for several days during menstruation. Drink it about once a week at other times. With consistent use, symptoms of uterine coldness will lessen. Alternatively, you can soak or decoct astragalus, jujubes, or angelica in water to replenish qi and regulate blood, thus effectively dispelling uterine coldness.
3. Foot soak with traditional Chinese medicine
Boil mugwort, cinnamon, and Sichuan pepper in water and use the water to soak your feet. This has the effect of warming the kidneys, dispelling cold, warming the meridians, and promoting blood circulation.
4. Moxibustion
Suitable for women suffering from cold uterus, menstrual pain, cold lower abdomen, general coldness, and those recovering from childbirth with a need for uterine warming. It regulates the extraordinary meridians, warms the uterus, and dispels cold. Key acupoints include Guanyuan, Shenque, Baliao, and Shenshu.
5. Exercise
"Movement generates Yang energy," and those with a cold constitution especially need to improve their constitution through exercise. Brisk walking is the simplest way. Walking, especially on cobblestone paths, can stimulate the meridians and acupoints on the soles of the feet, which can unblock the meridians, regulate Qi and blood, improve blood circulation, and warm the whole body.
6. Avoid the cold
Summer is hot, so avoiding the cold is very important. Although air conditioning is available everywhere, be careful not to sit directly under it. Try to keep the cold air away from your back and waist, and keep the air conditioning temperature above 26 degrees Celsius. Also, avoid sitting on grass, rocks, or concrete, as these are places that can feel cold.
