1. Breastfeeding Tips
① After the baby is born, let the baby start suckling at the breast as early as possible. The earlier the baby suckles, the more beneficial it is for the secretion of milk.
② Colostrum is the most precious and should not be thrown away. Exclusively breastfed babies should be fed on demand, ensuring 8-12 sucklings per day.
③ Burp your baby after feeding, otherwise the baby is prone to spitting up. After each feeding, let the baby lie on their side to prevent choking.
④ Breast milk is the ideal food for babies. Newborns have poor digestive function, so it is important to insist on breastfeeding. If there is no breast milk, formula milk powder can be used.
⑤ Do not turn on the main light when feeding at night; a small night light is sufficient.
⑥ Newborns should be fed with bottles as little as possible to prevent confusion with the nipple.
2. Pay attention to the method of burping.
Newborns and infants are not fully developed physiologically, so they may feel uncomfortable and irritable after being fed because they swallow some air while sucking.
If a child lies on their back in bed, they are more likely to spit up or vomit large amounts of milk, which can lead to aspiration!
In this situation, parents should learn how to burp their children.
After the baby finishes feeding, parents can hold the baby upright against their chest, with the baby's head resting on the parent's shoulder. Support the baby with one hand and gently pat the baby's back with the other hand.
Patting helps the baby expel any air they may have swallowed. After burping, turn the baby onto their side to prevent choking after spitting up.
3. Change diapers frequently.
Newborns urinate 6-8 times a day and defecate at least 4-10 times a day.
If the baby has not urinated within 24 hours of birth, breastfeed and wash the buttocks with warm water to encourage urination.
Change diapers frequently to keep the area clean and prevent diaper rash, also known as eczema.
4. Baby's body temperature should not exceed 37.5℃
Newborns have an underdeveloped thermoregulatory center, and their subcutaneous fat is thin, causing them to lose heat quickly and have a poorer ability to retain heat compared to normal people, resulting in unstable body temperature.
If parents cannot accurately monitor their baby's temperature changes, they can easily put their baby in danger without even realizing it.
Babies have a fast metabolism and are more sensitive to heat. Wearing too many clothes may cause eczema. You should not let your baby get cold, but you also should not wrap them up too tightly.
A newborn's normal axillary temperature is 36.5-37.5℃. You should measure your baby's temperature every day.
After a baby cries or is breastfed, their temperature may be slightly elevated. Wait 30 minutes and then recheck their temperature. If it is above 37.5 degrees Celsius, take them to see a doctor to avoid delaying treatment.
5. Wash your hands before holding the baby.
Wash your hands with soap before caring for a newborn; this is important for preventing infection.
If anyone in the household has a cold or infectious disease, they should not come into contact with the baby.
Next, I'll teach you how to wash your hands:

⑥ Rub your fingertips together in your palm
⑦ Increase the frequency of wrist cleaning if necessary.
6. Neonatal jaundice
Physiological jaundice usually appears 2-3 days after birth, peaks at 4-6 days, and subsides at 7-10 days.
It is recommended to let your baby get some sunshine, but avoid direct sunlight.
You can cover the baby's eyes with clothing and supplement with breast milk as needed.
7. Prevention of neonatal eczema
① Parents should adjust their baby's clothing according to the weather to avoid making the baby too cold or too hot, in order to prevent the threat caused by sudden changes in the weather.
② Use mild, non-irritating soap or shower gel to bathe and reduce skin irritation.
③ Keep a close eye on your baby to prevent scratching and irritation, which could lead to skin damage.
④ Create a good home living environment for the baby. Pay attention to ventilation, do not smoke, lay fewer carpets, and try not to keep pets or grow flowers and plants. When the indoor air is too dry, you can also use a humidifier.
⑤ Closely monitor the child's growth and development, and seek medical attention promptly if any special circumstances arise.
